<intro>
Usually, when people talk about cleaning out the House in Washington, there is some kind of movement to vote out many of the elected representatives from around the country. The Redskins did their own version of cleaning house by releasing 10 players, including receiver Antwaan Randle El. The team finished the season 4-12, so it is not surprising that changes would be made. There is a new general manager in Bruce Allen, whose father was well known for the phrase "the future is now". Mike Shanahan is the new coach, and it is clear that change is in the air in Washington.

One surprise from the cuts might be guard Randy Thomas, because it means another position available on the offensive line that lost Chris Samuels. Samuels made the Pro Bowl six times and never missed a start until he was injured this past season. He had to retire for health reasons, but plans to stay with the organization as a coaching intern.
</intro>

    <intro>
I am excited about having Coach Shanahan take over the team. The way I look at it, it’s like Phil Jackson taking over the Lakers. We have so much talent, now we have a leader who will make sure that talent produces on the field. You couldn’t ask for a better coach to represent our team.

Everyone knows about Coach Shanahan’s success and his ability to build a team and put a plan into action. When you have a great leader, his attitude trickles down through the players. It starts at the top and works its way to the bottom. The coach reflects the team. Look at the Steelers, they have a tough, defensive minded coach and they’re a tough, defensive minded team.

Coach Shanahan is a disciplined, well respected coach, he will make sure we don’t keep having problems with penalties and that everyone is in the right places at the right time. With him on the field and Bruce Allen in the front office I think we’re going to surprise some people next season.

For me, it’s great to have another year under my belt, another year toward getting into that comfort zone on the field. I take away from my experience everything I can, so next year I’ll have an edge to help us win any way I can. We lost a lot of close games, some devastating losses. We don’t want to repeat that next year. It’s like in college, from freshman to senior year, you’re naturally more mature and able to handle situations better with experience.

I’m so excited I’m already starting to hit the weights pretty hard. The Super Bowl was here in Miami, and being around that atmosphere and the buildup before the game makes you want to be in the same position the Saints and Colts were in. Tracy Porter is a guy I know, I can relate to him and he’s a Super Bowl champion.

I’m ready to play this game the way it needs to be played to get us into the playoffs. I’ve already called my guy at the gym to tell him I’m ready to get back into it. You want to take your mind off the game for a while, but right now, with a new coach, everything is so crystal clear for the upcoming season as to what kind of success we can have.

I can’t keep my mind off football.

Devin Thomas is a wide receiver with the Washington Redskins. His blog for www.playerpress.com runs at www.thomas11.com.
It’s just that I usually come later, like summertime, but since my boi London Fletcher invited me down I decided to join the festivities.

The Pro Bowl game was cool – London had some plays out there being the middle backer he is … lol. The tempo was really chill this year unlike other years. I counted like 5 run plays total for the game you could tell they weren't trying to get anybody hurt ... My highlight was I was at my first NFL game as a fan … lol.

Lots of yelling and cheering and fights in the crowd and of course ignoring the really drunk guy besides me bothering me to death about people’s names and from what college they went to ... Hey, plz, just go a buy a program already!!!!! Good thing he left after halftime.

Overall, a very cool experience. In the near future I’ll be in it!!!!

Well, I have to get back to this nice food out here – top-of-the-line steaks and Cuban foods!!!!!! Check in with you all in a few... out.

    <intro>
This past year was rough. We lost to the Lions, we lost to the Chiefs, we almost lost to Tampa Bay and St. Louis. We didn’t beat the teams we were supposed to beat early. We failed as a team and changes needed to be made.

I think Coach Zorn was a good guy who meant well. I think he was put in a situation that got out of control, and then when pressure came in from the outside to win more games it was just too much. Things didn’t work out the way he planned.

We all suffered for it. We didn’t win a lot of games. Guys like London Fletcher didn’t get to go to the Pro Bowl. He’s a hard worker, he’s been around so long I couldn’t believe it when I heard he had never been to the Pro Bowl. He’s been part of so many great defenses, he’s been a consistent player, one of the top linebackers in the NFL for a long time. I definitely feel he should get a chance to go this year.

From what I’ve seen of him, Mike Shanahan is a great coach. He’s accomplished a lot and I think he’ll be able to do great things for the Redskins. He’s bringing in his own people and getting things ready.

I think Coach Shanahan saw what didn’t work this season and he’ll learn from that and try a new approach.

I’m happy to have this website and have a chance to blog and let the fans know who I really am. Fans should get the chance to know the players as people, and not always get the news that comes from the media because it’s usually not good. This will be more of a hands-on experience for fans, I hope you will all send me your questions and comments and I promise to try to respond here on the website as often as I can.

The last thing I want to say right now is that I’m sorry about this season and I’m going to work really hard in the off-season to make sure it never happens again.

Fred Davis is a tight end with the Washington Redskins. His blog for www.playerpress.com runs at www.freddavis86.com.
</intro>

    <intro>
The Redskins are fixable and sooner than some may think.

The Redskins are not far off from being a playoff team again.

I realize that coming off a 4-12 season that statement is at best, bold, and at worst, the most foolish thing ever said. However, before you write me off as someone just buying into all of the Mike Shanahan hype, I ask that you hear me out.

As a lifelong Redskins fan, I have been trying to figure out how the Skins could be fixed ever since it became apparent that this season was a lost cause. I knew that our offensive line was a big problem that needed to be addressed and our secondary needed some players who could get some interceptions (and not give them right back).

I tried to hold on to the fact that most of the Skins losses came in close games, but after a while, I would say right after the Saints game, it just became extremely frustrating. Just when I had lost all hope about my beloved Redskins, inspiration came from the most unexpected, and frankly, unusual place- the Houston Texans.

That's right. I said the Houston Texans. I know, I know, another strange statement from me, but I found the similarities between the old Texans and the current Redskins to be eerily similar. Think about it. When the Texans were struggling year after year, one of their problems was with their offensive line who had difficulty protecting their quarterback who had a slow release. Now I am not saying that Jason Campbell holds on to the ball nearly as long as David Carr, but at times, Jason does hold on the ball a little too long.

Look at the current Texans, who have sured up their o-line and got a QB with a quick release, and as a result missed the playoffs due to a tiebreaker. I believe that the Redskins do have the offensive weapons to be effective as well as an efficient defense. All that the Skins need to do is work with Jason Campbell, who does have the tools to be a good QB, on getting rid of the ball quicker, find some good (non-injury prone) linemen, and 1 or 2 playmakers in the secondary.

If they do that, the Washington Redskins will at least be a Wild Card team. Of course, all of this is based on Daniel Snyder keeping his word and letting the football operations of the Redskins be handled by the coach and GM.
</intro>

    <intro>
Mike Shanahan, the former Denver Broncos coach who took them to two straight Super Bowl victories, has signed a 5-year, $7 million contract with the Washington Redskins. A news conference is expected Wednesday to introduce Shanahan as the new coach.

Shanahan previously coached the Denver Broncos. He led the Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 1997 and 1998.

In December of 2008, Shanahan was fired after the Broncos failed to make the playoffs for the third consecutive year. This after the Broncos led the division for the majority of the year. Shanahan had a coaching record of 24-24 over those three seasons.

Prior to the Bronco's, Shanahan was offensive coordinator for the Broncos under Dan Reeves, Offensive coordinator for the 49ers, and head coach of the Oakland Raiders.

    <intro>
Jim Zorn hadn’t been gone as Washington Redskins coach for 12 hours before the team had contacted former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan about replacing him, sources say.

Sources told the Associated Press that an NFL official confirmed that the Redskins had spoken with Shanahan about their vacant head coaching job.

Washington general manager Bruce Allen talked to Shanahan by phone on Monday as the team moved quickly following the dismissal of Zorn, who was fired in the pre-dawn hours Monday, one day after Washington completed a 4-12 season with a 23-20 loss at San Diego.

The official spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team is not revealing details of its coaching search.

The Redskins had high hopes coming into the season but finished last in the NFC East with a 4-12 record, including an embarrassing loss to the Detroit Lions that snapped the team’s 19-game losing streak.

Zorn’s dismissal has been expected for months. The front office stripped him of his play-calling duties in late October, and owner Dan Snyder has interviewed assistant coach Jerry Gray for the job, according to the Fritz Pollard Alliance, which monitors minority hiring in the NFL.

Zorn started 6-2 as a rookie head coach last season, but the team struggled over the second half and finished 8-8. This year’s team has been hurt by numerous injuries, a lack of depth off-the-field distractions, but also by an inability of Zorn’s West Coast offense to consistently find the end zone.

The Redskins failed to score more than 17 points in their first eight games.
</intro>

    <intro>
This should come as no surprise.

The Redskins fired Jim Zorn.

Coaches are hired to be fired. But Zorn is an interesting case. Zorn was a quarterback coach, and then was supposed to be an offensive coordinator. The Redskins started the 2008 season 6-2, but finished 8-8. The early stages of the 2009 season had the Redskins playing teams that were struggling for wins. The Redskins in many cases provided that first win, including a game against the Detroit Lions, who had not won in over a year.

Fans of the Redskins (if you can find them) created this tribute, "Hail to the Deadskins". A friend at work and I were discussing ownership, and how important it is. As a Boston fan, New ownership for the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics resulted in championships for each team within the first decade. A decade of ownership for Daniel Snyder has resulted in multiple coaching changes and the worst record for Washington since 1994.

The firing of Zorn follows the resignation of Vinny Cerrato in mid December and hiring of Bruce Allen. Allen declared in today's press conference that the 2010 season begins now. It remains to be seen if any difference will come in 2010 for the Redskins.
</intro>

    <intro>
Merry Christmas to all you out there! Hope it was great and you were able to spend quality time with your families as I did.

This team has definitely has its shares of ups and downs this season. Beating Oakland felt good and then we immediately went downhill against the Giants. That was one of the all-time lows. We have beaten the Giants only once since I've been here, and for us to play that poorly was sickening.

I don't know what to say about the team's trials this season, except I'm ready to fast-forward into next year. We have a chance to redeem ourselves against the Cowboys, and I hope that this team can again show what we are built of. Finishing the season strong and being able to hold our heads up high is vital at this point.

Go Hurricanes! Beat Wisconsin this Tuesday in the Champs Sports Bowl!

    <intro>
It’s been a real frustrating year. We came in with a lot of high expectations all across the board, for me personally and for the whole team. It’s been disappointing but sometimes it happens like that and you have to be patient, and when your time comes make the most of it.

You never know when your opportunity will arrive, so all you can do is make sure you stay ready, that’s all you can do. When it’s your time you have to step up to the plate and make it happen. Otherwise you can’t complain, because when your time came you missed your shot and it’s your own fault.

Last week was my shot and I was ready. Everything was clicking, Jason was finding me and we had good matchups and good timing against the Saints. It was just too bad we couldn’t pull out the win.

Since I became a starter my role has increased gradually each week. Finally last week I had the chance to showcase all of my abilities, including kick returning. I felt like it could have happened earlier in the season and I could have gotten rolling earlier. But this is my time now and I have to make the most of it every week.

I feel like Jason has confidence in me and we have chemistry from all the time we spent together in the off-season. We’re on the same page and in a good situation, so we can put up some good numbers for the rest of the year and see where it goes after that.

I really like returning kicks. It’s one of those hit-or-miss situations. I enjoy going full speed. If I hit the hole right I can fly right through, if not you have to make the most of it. It’s a challenge I like, and I like having that ball in my hands.

That’s why I chose to play offense instead of defense. At Michigan State I think I could have been a great DB, but I always had a thirst for the ball. I knew I needed to get the ball in my hands.

I think we can do even better, starting this week against the Raiders. I’m licking my chops to go up against Nnamdi. He’s a great corner and going up against him is the opportunity of a lifetime, just like going up against Champ Bailey when we played Denver. Especially as a young guy, it’s great to have the chance to test yourself against the best

I think I can do better, too. I’m not at any kind of peak right now, I’m still gradually getting better and better. I know I still make mistakes here and there, but you can count on some big things happening. I have confidence in myself, I have confidence from Jason and I’m feeling it from the coaches. That’s a lot of confidence in one area. I know that when I get that ball in my hands I can make things happen.

Devin Thomas is a wide receiver with the Washington Redskins. <intro>
This season has been absolutely crazy. Looking on the bright side, our team has looked more complete these last couple of weeks. It is the worst feeling in the world to play your guts out and then get to the end of the game and not be able to finish. Riding back from playing the Saints I just couldn't figure out why we didn't win that game. It almost feels like we have a two-minute curse. And the music at the stadium sure didn't help either.

One day of dwelling on it and then we all have to move forward and focus on the Raiders.

Going to be busy the next several weeks with charity events as Christmas approaches. Giving back to the community and kids will be something positive to focus on instead of what's going on with the team.

For those of you guys that showed up in the cold today, thanks for your support and know that we'll continue to press on. True character is always revealed during times of adversity.

Rocky McIntosh is a linebacker with the Washington Redskins. <intro>
It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with you guys and blogged, but I wanted to let everyone know that I’m doing well despite this tough injury. I’m basically week to week with my knee injury and I’m anxious to get back out there and help my team WIN. We’ve really been playing inspired football as of late and it seems like we just can’t put the pieces together to close out the games. Being on a 3-8 team, a lot of people would think that guys would be eager to just pack it in and start playing for self. It’s been great to see my teammates, our coaches and really our whole organization continue to persevere through these difficult times. We’ve really stuck together and stayed committed to the goal of winning. Every game is a new opportunity.

I personally haven’t thought about hanging it up this season. I’ve been responding well to the treatment our medical staff has given me and I fully expect to be back out there with my teammates sooner rather than later. As a professional athlete I have become accustomed to competing, and when you develop the ability to compete at the highest level the idea of quitting or laying down really never crosses your mind. Regardless of our record our team and coaches all want to win the next one! We have our work cut out for us facing New Orleans this weekend. They are playing great football and with a talented team coming into FedEx like the Saints we’re going to be counting on our 12th man – you fans – to help will us to a victory. We need that 12th man!

I have to say that I’ve really been impressed with our fans. I always heard a lot about how great the Redskins Fans are but you never know until you experience it firsthand. They have really stood behind this team and organization. You hear rumbles and grumbles here and there, but for the most part the personal messages I’ve received via Twitter or the encouraging words I hear heading into the stadium on game day really goes a long way for myself and my teammates. I want to personally say “Thank You” to Redskins Nation for that. Those messages go a long way and have really been a bright spot for me and my teammates. I can’t wait till we get this thing turned around and restore the pride to our fans and city! I mean the pride people had in Redskins Football during the Glory Days! The Hogs, Darrell Green, Art Monk, Doug Williams and all those great players that laid the foundation for my teammates and I.

That is one of the reasons I felt like being in DC with the Redskins was just a great fit. The fans and community expect to win. I think it’s something that my teammates and I take as a personal challenge week in and week out, to play in a way that would make the lifelong Redskin fans proud and that would earn the respect and admiration of those Redskin greats who helped build this great tradition.

With the Thanksgiving holiday just passing and Christmas gradually approaching I’m truly thankful to be here during tough times and I’m excited to help restore that pride for all of our fans and for this great organization. There is no place I would rather be. I wish everyone a safe and prosperous holiday season!! Till next time…HTTR!

D.Hall  23

DeAngelo Hall is a cornerback with the Washington Redskins. <intro>
Not only are the Redskins an embarrassing, dysfunctional, laughable and offensive football team, but they're nickname is also offensive to Native Americans. Why do we keep ignoring the Native Americans' concerns?

On top of all this the media and fans were by far the most fickle I have ever been around, and the most unrealistic or maybe I should say blinded. The Redskins would lose to Dallas and the season was over…the coach should be fired…the backup QB should play…our defense sucks…blah, blah, blah. Then the following week the Redskins would beat the Eagles and it was “we’re going to the Super Bowl baby”. Until of course they lost again, then it was all over again. This mindset was, and still is, prevalent with the local radio talk shows, particularly the “Sports Junkies”. This year the Redskins lose or almost lose to the worst teams in the NFL – Detroit, St. Louis, Kansas City and Tampa Bay and everyone and their mother wants Zorn fired, Snyder to sell the team, Campbell benched, Haynesworth to refund his big paycheck, etc. Naturally this season is a wash and they need to rebuild, draft well, etc. Then the Redskins beat the Broncos, a major upset, and the team is still only 3-6 with that win, but now the talking heads are talking about the season isn’t lost, the Giants are sucking, the Cowboys and Eagles just lost too, the NFC East isn’t that dominant and “we” still have a shot at the playoffs. Really? And you guys get paid for this type of wishy-washy, biased commentary?

So while my hatred for the Redskins grew, I grew up as well. As I got older I started hearing about the small group of Native Americans complaining about the team’s nickname and demanding it be changed to something non-offensive. My initial reaction was it isn’t offensive, stop being so damn sensitive. A lot of this feeling was tied to my anger at the St. Johns basketball team in Queens, NY changing their nickname from Redmen to Red Storm. Lots of other college teams had to make similar name changes and I was, and still am, against this whole stupid political correctness era we’re living in, so I was annoyed by the actions being taken to placate a small group of people complaining. While I still believe we need to recognize the wishes and needs of the many over those of the few, I also realized years ago that some things need to be changed or fixed even if it’s one person complaining; something like an offensive and derogatory nickname to identify a specific group of people; something like the Redskins. And let’s not kid ourselves people, the only reason this nickname still exists is because the Native American population is extremely small and not very vocal. You never see Native Americans protesting or rioting or marching or demonstrating. There’s no loud mouth hate-monger riling them up and making them believe they are owed something because of past wrongs by people no longer alive. They quietly use the justice system to file their complaints and appeals and continue to work to achieve their objective. Unfortunately our justice system is failing the Native Americans in this endeavor. Just as the NFL and the Washington Redskins are failing them.

Allow me to put this into perspective for the majority of groups out there. For Native Americans, a professional sports team in the USA with the nickname of Redskins is equal to the following offensive and derogatory nicknames being used (warning: some if not all of these names may upset you):

-          New York Kikes (Jews)

    <intro>
Finally a win after several weeks of losing.

Sure felt good to win and also to put that hit on Brandon Marshall. Got to see my boy D.J. Williams with his Mohawk. I'm pretty positive our offense worked him over pretty good because I saw him lying on his back a few times. Looking forward to Sunday against the Cowboys and we should be good to go if the same team shows up that beat the Broncos.

The íCanes loss was disappointing though. I had high hopes for those boys. One of my Redskins teammates asked me why our mascot was a duck. First I had to give him a beat down and then a school lesson about the ibis and its relationship to hurricanes. It's been said that the ibis is the last to take shelter before a hurricane and the first to return after the storm. Check out www.miami.edu for more on that.

Can't wait to check out the Wizards vs. Cavs Wednesday night. I'm a Wizards supporter but we have a guy on the team from Cleveland (not going to name any names) who is all about the Cavs. Sure hope Fletch can get his autographed LeBron shoes after the game.

    <intro>
I'm going to start out today focusing on the positive, which is that the ’Canes are really putting things together. Started off a little slow and then took off scoring every way possible. They can score at will but the D needs to pick it up. These boys are really bringing things back and trying to return us to championship form.

Now for the Redskins ... This losing every week is really getting out of control. Got my first pick of the season and ran it back 20 yards while the 3 DBs around me kept asking for me to pitch it back to them. Not being able to run it back was disappointing though because our team needs all the points we can get. Hoping that the Broncos loss last night can send them into some sort of downward spiral and that combined with the altitude change will start putting some things into our favor.

Going to an event later today where we'll be battling our troops overseas in Guitar Hero. Just want to send out a salute to all of those in our Armed Forces and thank you to Veterans as well for fighting for this country. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by the Ft. Hood tragedy. I have family that works on that base and am just thankful that my loved ones are OK.

    <intro>
It was good to get away from football for a week but I’m glad to come back and get the second half of the season started. Hopefully we can do what it takes to get into the playoffs.

I think the bye came at a perfect time for us. The way our team has been banged up and losing people, we really needed that extra week of rest and the opportunity to get away from football. To be able to come back with a clean slate. Have a Sunday off, the chance to enjoy your family and enjoy a Sunday, then come back ready to play.

I’m not thinking about what I’ve done this season. Whatever I’ve done it hasn’t been enough to get us wins. We have 9 games left, so now I have to do what I can in those 9 games to help us win. Forget about what we’ve been through that’s put us in a 2-5 hole. Now we have to dig ourselves out, even though we have the tougher part of our schedule coming up.

The challenge is there, the opportunity is there, if we can find a way to win, it will be even better.

Everybody in the NFL has talent, what we need is the motivation. We have to look at the season one game at a time instead of the big picture. We’re missing guys, but we have to go out there and get it done with the guys we have and I have to help make that happen.

We go to Atlanta on Sunday. The Falcons have an awesome team and they’re playing at home. They had a tough game against the Saints on Monday night, but if you watched their defense you’d see a lot of guys who fly to the ball. The biggest issue will be John Abraham, he comes off the edge like a wildman. He’s sack happy. And their offense also gets respect, they’ve got a quarterback, running back, a receiver and a tight end, all Pro Bowl bound. It’s hard to stop that.

It’s been a tough season. We’re at week 7 and we’ve lost four productive offensive players. The line had already been shuffled and things were bad before we lost those guys. Now we have those voids to fill.

There’s a lot of aggravation, like you’re thinking why does the injury bug seem to hit us every year? It seems like the line has to be shuffled every year.

It’s aggravating, but at the same time I can’t let it stop me from doing my job or keep me from being productive.

Clinton Portis is a running back with the Washington Redskins. <intro>
Without a doubt the longest stretch in the NFL season for a fan is the bye week.

Without a doubt the longest stretch in the NFL season for a fan is the bye week.

The six days leading up to it crawl by as you read stories of players resting and taking a few days off.

The headlines on ESPN hype up the big matchups of the week and break down the upcoming games with no mention of your team.

Hearing of vacation destinations for bye week players makes me more nervous then interested in the off week (maybe because I'm a Bengals fan...but still).

Once Sunday arrives, your whole routine is thrown off. Who wants to watch the pregame shows when the team you root for will not even be mentioned? The Lions and Rams will get more coverage for this one week.

Once the games start, an odd feeling of indifference strikes. Most Sundays are filled with hype and a large dose of emotion. On bye week you are relegated to rooting for fantasy players and teams playing divisional foes.

By the end of the day nothing has changed much in the grand scheme of things. Maybe you gained or lost a half-game.

Then the highlights begin to roll in. There is no opportunity to see what the "expert" analysts think of your team's game. (One of the great feelings a fan has is when his or her team wins and you can watch the highlights and talking heads gush over them on ESPN, NBC, FOX, and CBS.)

No predictions about the upcoming games or updates on injuries. Nothing at all when it's bye week.

After it's all said and done, the bye is still not over. Now the team is subjected to minimal mention at the beginning of the week because they haven't played in a while. Rarely does a big story occur during a bye.

Dan Snyder and the Redskins had the perfect bye week because it allowed people to forget about their awful season for a week. The media pressure went down a notch (from boiling to simmering).

But for a team like the Cincinnati Bengals, the bye was ill-timed. Off a 45-10 pasting of the Chicago Bears, the momentum was strong for QB Carson Palmer and the offense. The team was relatively healthy and seemed extremely focused. Taking a week off doesn't do anything for this team.

Odd stat of the day: Marvin Lewis is 1-4-1 with the Bengals after a bye. Not sure how to interpret that one. Do the players get too much time off? Does Lewis fail to keep the squad focused on the task at hand? Or is the stat a complete coincidence? I wish I had the answer.

So while byes can be quite beneficial for teams that are banged-up or trying to release some of the steam from the pressure cooker, it doesn't always help every team—and it makes fans suffer through two painfully long weeks.

Sunday can't come soon enough.
</intro>

    <intro>
My wife was on her computer in the bedroom and could hear the Redskin's game on the TV in the living room. It was Monday Night and my beloved Redskins were playing a hated Divisional Rival. She knew it was best to stay clear out of the picture.

She heard the announcers say "Touchdown Eagles!", and not a peep came from the living room. There weren't any curses and nothing thrown at the TV. "Something is wrong" she said . She headed for the living room, looked in, and saw me sleeping . It was only the 1st quarter. "Unprecedented!" she gasped. Little does she know , that's where we are today In Redskin Nation. We are drowning in apathy .

The Jack Kent Cooke Redskins of the 80's and early 90's were one most Loveable teams in the History of Pro sports . To quote the Great John Madden at the end of the 1991 NFC Championship (Redskins Trounced the Lions) " The Redskins play on grass, they have the Hogs, they have a Band and they stand for everything that Football was meant to be about".

Boy those days feel like EONS ago. I was a kid looking for a team in 1982 . Giants and Jets had zero appeal to me . Then there was this team from Washington . They had the Smurfs, they had Joe Gibbs, they had RFK, they had the Hogs and best of all, they had John Riggins. It was love at first site.

What a beautiful run they took me on, and all of the Redskin Nation for that matter . The memories run so deep and vivid it was almost like we all were on one long acid trip. Riggins running over McNeal in the 82 Super Bowl, the 87 NFC championship game vs the Vikings. The whole 1991 year, which was a magic carpet ride of a season.

Who can forget the Seat Cushion game vs the Falcons, thousands of seat cushions flying in the air while Cooke is waving merrily to fans with a grin as wide as the Potamac. Redskins Cooke Gibbs Beathard stood for something . We had an Identity, we were a franchise running at the highest level.

Fast Forward to 2009. A lot has happened. Too much to be honest. Dan Snyder bought this team 10 years ago and it has been a slow and painful decline. It's only comparable to the baby boomer generation gradually watching Mickey Mantle breakdown. As the old saying goes "These aren't your daddy's Redskins anymore"...

Snyder charges for everything except the air we breathe at FEDEX. He charges 10 dollars for parking at Practices! Criminal! Wait! He charges an additional $10 for admission to practices! He sues his fans during a recession while he fields an inferior product no less. He's never hired a GM, all we have is his racquetball partner Vinny Cerrato calling the shots for us. Cerrato is like having Baghdad Bob lead the charge vs the 3rd ID. We've been doomed from the start.

2009 has been the breaking point for a lot of fans, myself included. I don't recogonize this Franchise any longer . Hire Marty Fire Marty, Hire the ol Ball Coach, Fire the ol ball coach, Gibbs in Gibbs out, Zorn Who? Zorn why? Matthews ,Banks , Graham , Ramsey, Brunell Campbell etc. You get the point .

Staring at this franchise, I try so hard to relate to them . But I don't any longer. There too commercialized due to Snyder's marketing team and too medicore due to Snyders crack committee Front office team. The passion has been sapped out. I root for them but with no passion. I'm apathetic now.

Like many other fans I wish to have a real GM, but it's too far reaching for Snyder's thought process. Redskin Fans look at other teams GM's (REESE, POLIAN, PIOLII etc) as a middle class man looks at the 2010 LAMBORGHINI. Its beautiful but I'll never have one. Dan Snyder what have you done? No GM, we trade picks like bubble cards, we sign and overpay for every free agent imaginable, we have no identity no soul.

This off season will be the biggest in Redskin History. What's done this off season will determine what the next 3-4 years will look like. Snyder needs to get this right , a lot is riding on this. I ask my fellow fans, based on the previous 10 years do we think the light bulb has finally gone on in Snyder's head?

Will he fire Cerrato?

Will he hire a real GM?

My educated guess is that he will fire Cerrato and sign some Big name coach to a gazillion dollar deal and make him the GM as well. Why? Because Snyder will still able to play Fantasy Football with our beloved franchise and ........it's better for Marketing.

Were have you gone Jack Kent Cooke? The Redskin Nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
</intro>
